It’s time to repeal the Second Amendment.
Yes, I know that sounds like a crazy pipe dream from another planet that will never happen.
But have you considered that the reason it sounds so ridiculous is that we’ve all been sucking down NRA talking points for the past 50 years—to the point that even when we disagree with the NRA, we’re still allowing them to frame the discussion?
What I intend to do here is throw out presumptions about what’s pragmatic or achievable or practical or possible, and focus on what’s imperative—what has to be achieved no matter how difficult it is or how long it takes. The time for compromise and incremental measures has come and gone. The gun lobby currently controls the Supreme Court, which means it has the upper hand. It will not compromise because it doesn’t need to.
And that means those who oppose the gun lobby should also forget about compromising. Thinking small and being “reasonable” has gotten us nowhere.
I’ll try to flesh out these ideas socratically as I build the site. It’s my first time using WordPress, so don’t expect anything fancy, but I’ll try at least to make it interesting to read.
